After taking a page out of Blackberry’s book, WhatsApp decided to implement a ‘last seen’ feature into their popular cross-platform messaging application. It allows your contacts to see when you were last using the app – not particularly helpful when you’re trying to avoid someone!
For many, this was an issue large enough to cause them to leave the platform and move onto an ever-growing list of alternative platforms. Others chose to vent their anger on social media platforms, and then there’s you. You decided to find out how to disable this feature.
How to turn off ‘Last Seen’ feature on WhatsApp
This tutorial is specifically aimed at iOS devices, however the same steps may work for other platforms too. Be aware that it can take upto 48 hours for the WhatsApp last seen feature to completely turn off.
Step 1: Launch WhatsApp and hit the Settings tab in the bottom right corner.
Step 2: Touch onto Chat Settings in the new window that appears.
Step 3: Now scroll down and touch into Advanced.
Step 4: Slide the toggle next to Last Seen Timestamp to Off. Remember it may take up to 48 hours for the changes to completely update.
