Cydia Substrate 0.9.5000 Released; Supports iOS 7 & 64bit iPhone 5S

The man behind Cydia, Saurik, has just pushed an update for what was once called ‘Mobile Substrate’ to bring support for the new 64bit processor used in the iPhone 5S and iPad Air.

Jailbreak developers were unable to successfully create complex jailbreak tweaks for iOS 7 with the old version of Mobile Substrate, but the new update announced by Saurik on twitter brings continued support.

Users can update by heading into Cydia and checking the Changes tab for an update to Cydia Substrate. Note that it has been renamed from Mobile Substrate to Cydia substrate by its author.

The changelog published states:

Substrate version 0.9.5000 is now compatible with both iOS 7 and the ARM64 CPU used in the iPhone 5S (and many of those new iPads).

There has been no mention to why the name was changed.
