Microsoft Offers $100 Trade-In Discount For Windows XP

It looks like Microsoft really wants users to leave the soon-to-be outdated desktop OS. Microsoft have officially announced that support for Windows XP will be cut off on 8th April 2014, and to encourage everyone to move on from the legacy OS; have offered a $100 discount when upgrading to a new machine.

Microsoft $100 Windows Xp Trade In

There are a few rules that apply for those interested in taking advantage of the offer. First of all, it’s only available in-store so you’ll have to take your old machine in to a local Microsoft store. The offer also only currently applies to new Windows machines priced at $599 or above. And finally, the promotion is only valid until 15th June 2014, or when stocks run out – whichever comes first!

Microsoft have recommend you upgrade to a HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 touchscreen laptop or a Lenovo 2-in-1 ThinkPad S1 Yoga tablet, but the deal does apply to other models too including the Surface.

If you’re looking for a cheaper option there are plenty around including low-end Windows 8 desktops or slightly older Windows 7 machines.

This deal is ideal for anyone considering upgrading with an old machine sitting around at home collecting dust. So if you have an old XP machine lying around, head into a Microsoft store and see what’s available!

UPDATE: This offer seems to be valid in all countries with a Microsoft store.
