The most noteworthy point of the features is the fact that Samsung have ditched Android for the new premium smartphone line. Tizen OS is just over two years old and may suggest Samsung have invested a lot into getting the initial release on a smartphone right, but – they have had to ditch a lot of Android feature.
The most obvious loss is the Google Play Store. And since Tizen is also making it’s first commercial debut on the Z, it also lacks a store so customizations will be very limited for now atleast.
There may be hints towards Samsung focusing on it’s own app store, afterall, the version of Tizen shipped on the Samsung Z comes with Samsung’s TouchWizz enhancements.
Samsung have tipped a 2014 Q3 launch date for the Russian market only thus far. We are in two minds as to whether it will find it’s way into the UK and American markets due to the lack of full support from developers.
